Common problems
License required after evaluation
Expected. A crack is junk. VS Code will not show this JetBrains dialog.
People install VS Code for a class that wanted WebStorm
The class likely meant webstorm64.exe. Code.exe plus extensions is not the same indexer.
Getting unstuck
Confirm webstorm64.exe under JetBrains\WebStorm
Microsoft VS Code is Code.exe. idea64.exe is IntelliJ.
Install from jetbrains.com/webstorm/download or Toolbox
JetBrains hosts the real builds.
Point WebStorm at the Node interpreter you actually use
nvm-windows copies are easy to miss. That setting is not a VS Code launch.json.
Alternatives
VS Code if you want a free editor. IntelliJ Ultimate if you already have that license. Neovim if you want a terminal.
