Keeper
Also called keeper security, keeper vault, keeper password manager
A business-leaning password manager. The window is Keeper.exe. It is not 1Password and not Bitwarden.
What you need to know
Keeper is Keeper Security. Work sharing is why IT picks it.
Keeper.exe is the Windows client. Business plans and docs.keeper.io are this vendor. 1Password, Bitwarden, and Dashlane are other companies. A KeePass kdbx is not a Keeper shared folder.
- What is it?
- Business-leaning vault from Keeper Security
- Same as 1Password?
- No. Different vendor and console
- IT invite?
- Use that. A personal vault will not see shared folders
What is Keeper?
Keeper is a password manager with a strong business SKU. Keeper.exe is the Windows client. Docs live on docs.keeper.io.
If you have never used it
If IT said install Keeper, this is Keeper Security's vault, not 1Password. Download from keepersecurity.com/download.html. Keeper.exe is the Windows app. Business sharing and PAM extras are why work chooses it. It is not Bitwarden self-host, not Watchtower, and not a KeePass kdbx.
What is it used for?
Admins push Keeper to staff. That is not a personal Bitwarden import you chose yourself.
Business add-ons sit in this vendor. 1Password has other enterprise names. They are not the same console.
A home plan still uses Keeper.exe. It is still not Dashlane.
Who is it for?
- Employees told to install Keeper by IT
- Households that bought Keeper instead of 1Password
- Anyone who opened 1Password.exe looking for a Keeper shared folder
Current status
Actively sold. This article is the Windows desktop app, not Keeper Chat alone.
How old is it?
Keeper Security launched in 2011 and leaned into business and MSP sales. Current Windows builds are the Keeper Desktop app. A 2012 consumer-only screenshot is incomplete.

Common problems
Personal 1Password next to a work Keeper
Two vaults, two vendors. Work logins belong in the Keeper org IT manages.
SSO enroll looks like a broken password
Business Keeper can require company SSO. That is IT, not a LastPass master-password dialog.
Getting unstuck
Install from keepersecurity.com/download.html
docs.keeper.io is help. A "Keeper Pro" ad host is not the vendor.
Use the invite email IT sent
A personal Keeper account will not see the company shared folders.
Do not migrate work secrets into Bitwarden on your own
That can violate policy. Ask IT for an official export path.
Alternatives
1Password if your household already pays AgileBits. Bitwarden if IT standardized there instead. KeePass only if you were told to keep a local file.
Official help and downloads
Start with the vendor. Random exe sites are not a support channel.

Related hardware
The desktop app is light. Business SSO needs a network and a company account.
