Dashlane
Also called dash lane, dashlane vault
A subscription password manager. The window is Dashlane.exe. It is not 1Password and not Bitwarden.
What you need to know
Dashlane is its own paid vault. 1Password Watchtower is not this app.
Dashlane.exe is the Windows client. The vault is Dashlane-hosted. 1Password is AgileBits. Bitwarden can be self-hosted. KeePass is a local file. LastPass is a different cloud history.
- What is it?
- Subscription vault. Not 1Password
- Watchtower?
- No. That name is 1Password
- Self-host?
- No. That is Bitwarden
What is Dashlane?
Dashlane is a subscription password manager. Dashlane.exe is the Windows client. The vault is Dashlane-hosted.
If you have never used it
If you pay Dashlane, this is that vault, not 1Password. Download from dashlane.com. Dashlane.exe is the Windows app. Dashlane hosts the account. There is no official Bitwarden-style self-host and no Watchtower label. It is not KeePass and not LastPass.
What is it used for?
Items live on Dashlane. That is not a KeePass kdbx and not a Bitwarden self-host URL.
Some Dashlane plans bundled a VPN. That extra is not NordVPN and not 1Password.
Dashlane names its own monitoring. 1Password calls the similar job Watchtower.
Who is it for?
- People already billed by Dashlane
- Users comparing paid vaults who should not treat 1Password as a skin
- Anyone who installed Bitwarden and still has a Dashlane subscription

Common problems
Two paid vaults after a migration
Dashlane and 1Password both billing is how people lose track of which login is current.
Plan lost the VPN extra
That was a Dashlane bundle, not NordVPN. Check the Dashlane plan, not NordPass.
Getting unstuck
Install from dashlane.com
1password.com is AgileBits. A "Dashlane full" ad host is not the vendor.
Sign in with the Dashlane account
There is no self-host field. A Bitwarden server URL will not work here.
Export if you are leaving
Dashlane documents export. Import into another manager is a migration.
Alternatives
1Password if you want Watchtower and AgileBits. Bitwarden if you want open source. Keeper if you were sent a business vault instead.
