CalculatorApp.exe
Also called calculatorapp, windows calculator, store calculator
Windows Calculator Store app. This process draws the Calculator window. calc.exe is often only the System32 shim that starts it.
What you need to know
CalculatorApp is the Store Calculator, not calc.exe shim only.
CalculatorApp.exe is Microsoft Windows Calculator in WindowsApps. calc.exe still exists as the legacy launch name. Ending CalculatorApp closes the window you are using.
- Safe?
- Yes. It is Calculator
- Same as calc.exe?
- No. calc.exe is the shim
- Should I end it?
- You lose an unsaved mode or tape
What is CalculatorApp.exe?
CalculatorApp.exe is the Store Calculator. It is not calc.exe by itself. The System32 name is a launch helper on current Windows.
What does it do?
It runs standard, scientific, graphing, and converter modes. It does not edit images. That is mspaint.exe.
Why is it running?
You opened Calculator, or calc.exe handed off to this package. A copy at logon is a Startup shortcut, not a Windows service.
Is it safe?
Usually safe
The Microsoft.WindowsCalculator package is Calculator. A CalculatorApp.exe in Temp is not.
A legitimate copy normally runs from:
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.WindowsCalculator_*\CalculatorApp.exe
- Store Calculator
- Shim: calc.exe
- Do not delete files under WindowsApps by hand
Can I end it?
Closes Calculator
Ending CalculatorApp.exe closes the Calculator window. calc.exe may already have exited.
Can I remove it?
Uninstall Calculator from Apps
Use Settings > Apps. Do not delete the WindowsApps folder. Leaving calc.exe in System32 is expected.
Should it start with Windows?
On demand unless you pinned a Startup shortcut.

The window is this process. End CalculatorApp.exe.
Calculator missing after a debloat script
Reinstall from the Store. Do not drop a random calc.exe on the desktop.
Troubleshooting
Diagnose before you change anything destructive.
Start > Calculator
If that opens, this is the process. calc.exe may flash and vanish.
Repair or reset Calculator in Apps
That is the supported fix, not a System32 replace.
