WizTree
Also called wiz tree, diskanalyzer wiztree
A fast NTFS disk map that reads the master file table. The 64-bit process is WizTree64.exe. It is not TreeSize.
What you need to know
WizTree reads the NTFS MFT. TreeSize is JAM's paid scanner.
Antibody Software WizTree maps disk use by reading the NTFS master file table. Get it from diskanalyzer.com. It is not TreeSize and it is not the slower classic WinDirStat walk.
- What is it?
- A fast NTFS disk map
- Same as TreeSize?
- No. Different vendor and method
- Why is it fast?
- It reads the NTFS MFT
What is WizTree?
WizTree is a disk-space treemap that reads the NTFS MFT. WizTree64.exe is the usual Windows build. TreeSize is JAM's product. WinDirStat walks folders the classic way.
If you have never used it
If a drive is full and you want a fast map on NTFS, WizTree is Antibody Software's MFT reader. Download it from diskanalyzer.com. It draws a treemap after reading the master file table, which is why it feels quicker than a folder walk. It is not TreeSize, not WinDirStat, and not Everything.
What is it used for?
The MFT read is why the first map appears quickly. TreeSize and WinDirStat usually walk directories instead.
Click a block to see the folder. That visual is closer to WinDirStat than to TreeSize's paid report windows.
Antibody documents a free personal license and a paid business license. JAM's SKUs are a different shop.
Who is it for?
- People whose C: filled up this afternoon
- Home users who want a free NTFS map
- Shops that must buy the business license Antibody documents
Current status
WizTree (2016) is a current disk space analyzer from Antibody Software. The vendor still points Windows users at https://www.diskanalyzer.com/download.
How old is it?
WizTree launched in 2016. It is new next to TreeSize (1996) and WinDirStat (2003). The speed story is the NTFS MFT, not a 1990s JAM license.

Resource profile
- CPU demand
- A short spike while the MFT is read

Common problems
People expect MFT speed on a network share
The MFT shortcut is local NTFS. A UNC path falls back to a slower walk, like other scanners.
Business use on the free build
Read Antibody's license. TreeSize Professional is a different paid product if you needed JAM support.
Getting unstuck
Download from diskanalyzer.com
A "WizTree Pro key" page is not Antibody. TreeSize lives at jam-software.com if that is what you meant.
Run as administrator if the MFT read is denied
Reading the master file table needs permission. That is WizTree, not a TreeSize license screen.
Use WinDirStat if you wanted the classic slow treemap on a non-NTFS volume
WizTree's fast path is NTFS. Other file systems do not get the same MFT trick.
Alternatives
TreeSize for JAM reports. WinDirStat for a classic free walk. Everything finds names, not folder sizes.
