Wire Desktop is Wire Swiss's Windows client. The executable is Wire.exe. Accounts can be consumer or business.

If work said we use Wire, this is Wire Swiss encrypted chat, not Signal. Download it from wire.com/en/download. The process is Wire.exe. Signal is a different messenger. Teams is a third work chat.
What is it used for?
That is the product pitch. Signal is a different protocol and vendor.
Guest and company accounts follow Wire admin. Slack is a different workspace.
Voice and video in the desktop client. Zoom is a meeting product, not this messenger.

How old is it?
Wire launched in 2014 as an encrypted messenger with a business tilt. It is the same year as Signal's wider brand moment and not a 2003 Skype story. Current Wire Desktop is still the Windows client.
