Common problems
Installed Epic and no editor appeared
Library > Unreal Engine > Install. The launcher can exist with zero engine versions.
Opened a Unity project in Unreal
Different engine. There is no silent convert.
Getting unstuck
Install from unrealengine.com/download, which sends you through Epic
That is the supported Windows path. Skip "UE5 full cracked" packs.
Confirm UnrealEditor.exe launched, not only the launcher
A Fortnite tile in Epic is not the engine.
Use the engine version the project was built with
UE5.3 projects do not always open cleanly in a newer minor. The launcher keeps versions side by side.
Alternatives
Unity Hub plus a Unity editor. Godot is a smaller free engine. The Epic launcher also launches games. Those games are not this article.
