Feex says
If Streamlabs OBS.exe is the process, that is the Logitech fork, not OBS Studio. I would not hunt obs64.exe to explain a Streamlabs theme.

What is Streamlabs Desktop?

Streamlabs Desktop is a streaming app built on an OBS fork. The Windows executable is Streamlabs OBS.exe.

If you have never used it

Streamlabs Desktop is a fork of OBS with alerts and widgets. Streamlabs OBS.exe is the process. It is not OBS Studio. Logitech owns Streamlabs now. Download from streamlabs.com. Themes and a Streamlabs account are the extra layer.

What is it used for?

Widget overlays

Alerts and donation tiles. Vanilla OBS uses Browser Sources you add yourself.

Scenes

Still an OBS-like scene tree. Themes can hide that. obs64.exe is the other product.

Streamlabs account

Login features Streamlabs sells. OBS Studio does not require that account.

Who is it for?

  • Streamers who want packaged widgets
  • People who clicked a Streamlabs ad
  • Anyone comparing Streamlabs OBS.exe with obs64.exe

Current status

Streamlabs Desktop (2016) is a current streaming overlay app from Logitech. The vendor still points Windows users at https://streamlabs.com/.

How old is it?

Streamlabs forked OBS around 2016 as Streamlabs OBS. Logitech acquired Streamlabs. The process name still says Streamlabs OBS.exe. obs64.exe is the upstream project.

Common problems

Theme hid the mixer

Streamlabs UI is not vanilla OBS. Switch editor or open OBS Studio.

Account required for a feature

That is Streamlabs, not an OBS plugin failure.

Getting unstuck

Confirm Streamlabs OBS.exe

The Streamlabs folder is the fork. Program Files\obs-studio is obs64.exe.

Install from streamlabs.com

Avoid random slobs.exe hosts.

Sign out and cache-clear Streamlabs documents

A stuck login is an account issue, not a GPU failure.

Alternatives

OBS Studio is the usual alternative. Streamlabs does not replace obs64.exe for a vanilla scene collection.
