What is DB Browser for SQLite?
DB Browser for SQLite edits a file. It does not listen on a port. HeidiSQL and DBeaver are client-server tools when they talk to MySQL.
If you have never used it
If you have a .sqlite or .db file, this app opens it on disk. Download it from sqlitebrowser.org. There is no server to start. HeidiSQL talks to MariaDB/MySQL servers. This is not mysqld.
What is it used for?
Browse tables and run SQL on that file. No service. HeidiSQL will not treat this as MariaDB.
The GUI writes the file. A server dump from HeidiSQL is a different workflow.
Local export. You are still not running a database server.
Who is it for?
- Developers with a local SQLite file
- People who tried to "start" a SQLite service
- Anyone comparing this with HeidiSQL

Common problems
Looked for a SQLite Windows service
There is none for this app. You open a file. If you need a server, that is MariaDB or another engine.
Opened a locked file the app already has
SQLite locking is file-based. Close the other writer. This is not a HeidiSQL session conflict.
Getting unstuck
Install from sqlitebrowser.org
Windows installer or portable. Skip "SQLite Server Pro" ads.
File > Open Database on the .db or .sqlite file
There is no host field like HeidiSQL. Path is the connection.
Copy the file for a backup, or export SQL
You cannot "dump a server" that does not exist.
Alternatives
The sqlite3 CLI. HeidiSQL and DBeaver when the data lives on a server. Laragon may bundle a MySQL server, not this GUI.
