- What is it?
- Household Sophos, not Central
- Same as Intercept X?
- No. That is the work product
- Plus Defender?
- No. One live engine
What is Sophos Home?
Sophos Home is the consumer antivirus. Sophos UI.exe is the Windows window. Central and Intercept X are workplace products.
If you have never used it
If a friend said "install Sophos", ask whether they meant Sophos Home or the work agent. Home is home.sophos.com. Intercept X and Sophos Central are what IT deploys. Sophos UI.exe is the home window. Home should take the antivirus slot. Home plus live Defender is the two-engine fight. HitmanPro is a different Sophos-owned scanner.
What is it used for?
The Home agent registers as the active engine so Defender can go passive.
You manage a handful of family PCs from home.sophos.com. That is not the company Central tenant IT uses.
Home Premium adds extras on the same Home SKU. It is still not Intercept X.
Who is it for?
- Households that want Sophos without a company tenant
- People who downloaded a Central sensor by mistake
- Anyone with Sophos UI.exe next to live Defender

Common problems
Home agent on a work-managed PC
Central can already own the machine. Adding Home stacks two Sophos products plus maybe Defender.
Home plus live Defender
Home should take the slot. If MsMpEng.exe still scans, both engines are live.
Getting unstuck
Confirm the download came from home.sophos.com
A Central installer from IT is a different product. The window and policies will not match Home help articles.
Check Windows Security for Sophos Home
It should name Sophos after a successful Home register.
Use HitmanPro only as an on-demand extra
HitmanPro is not a second resident Home install.
Alternatives
Windows Security if you do not want a third-party home suite. Work PCs should follow IT's Central agent, not this Home SKU.
