Mumble
Also called mumble voip, mumble client
An open-source low-latency voice client. On Windows the process is mumble.exe.
What you need to know
Mumble is open-source voice. It is not TeamSpeak.
mumble.exe talks to a Mumble server. TeamSpeak uses a different client and protocol. Discord is a third product.

What is Mumble?
Mumble is the client. The server is often still called Murmur. The Windows executable is mumble.exe.
If you have never used it
If a group said use Mumble, this is the open-source voice client, not TeamSpeak. Download it from mumble.info. The process is mumble.exe. You still need a Murmur/Mumble server address. ts3client_win64.exe is TeamSpeak.
What is it used for?
Mumble documents latency-focused voice. TeamSpeak is a different server protocol.
You join a host and port. There is no Discord-style cloud workspace included.
Optional overlay. It is a Mumble feature, not a GPU control panel.
Who is it for?
- Communities that host their own voice server
- Players who want an open-source client
- Anyone who mixed it up with TeamSpeak
Current status
Mumble (2005) is a current voice chat from Mumble team. The vendor still points Windows users at https://www.mumble.info/.
How old is it?
Mumble launched in 2005 as an open-source low-latency voice client. It is newer than TeamSpeak (2001) and older than Discord (2015). Current Mumble is still a client plus a server you or a host run.

Common problems
No server included in the client click
Mumble needs a server address. Installing only the client does not create a public Discord-like home.
People apply TeamSpeak port forwards
Wrong protocol. Use Mumble documentation for ports.
Getting unstuck
Install from mumble.info
A Mumble plus codec pack is junk. The project hosts the Windows build.
Confirm the server certificate prompt
Mumble docs explain first-connect certificates. TeamSpeak bookmarks will not apply.
Test audio in Mumble settings, then Windows Audio
A wrong input device is the usual first miss, not a dead GPU.
Alternatives
TeamSpeak if that is the hosted server. Discord if the group already moved. In-game voice if you do not want a second client.
