Ferdium
Also called ferdium app, ferdi fork
A community fork of Ferdi/Franz that hosts many chat sites in one window. The process is Ferdium.exe.
What you need to know
Ferdium wraps many chat sites. It is not Rambox.
Ferdium.exe is a community Franz/Ferdi fork. Rambox.exe is a different workspace app. Native messenger exes are still separate products.

What is Ferdium?
Ferdium is an Electron shell that embeds many chat sites. The Windows executable is Ferdium.exe. It is not Rambox and not a single messenger.
If you have never used it
If you want WhatsApp, Slack, and mail in one window, this is Ferdium, a community fork of Ferdi and Franz. It is not Rambox. Download it from ferdium.org. The process is Ferdium.exe. Each service is still that website inside the shell.
What is it used for?
WhatsApp Web, Slack, and others as services. WhatsApp.exe is still a different native client if you also installed that.
Ferdium services are site wrappers. A broken recipe is a Ferdium issue, not a Windows service.
Old Ferdi users were pointed here. Rambox is a different company.
Who is it for?
- People who outgrew a pile of chat tabs
- Users migrating from Ferdi or Franz
- Anyone comparing it with Rambox
Current status
Ferdium (2022) is a current workspace messenger from Ferdium community. The vendor still points Windows users at https://ferdium.org/.
How old is it?
Franz started the multi-chat shell. Ferdi forked it. Ferdium forked Ferdi in 2022 after Ferdi stalled. It is a 2020s community continuation, not a 2016 Rambox-only story.

Common problems
A site login loop inside a service
That is the wrapped website. Clear that service in Ferdium before you reinstall Windows.
People uninstall Rambox to remove Ferdium
They are separate apps. Ferdium.exe stays.
Getting unstuck
Install from ferdium.org
A Ferdi 2021 exe is stale. Ferdium is the current community fork.
Check GitHub issues for a broken recipe
github.com/ferdium/ferdium-app is the project tracker. Rambox Freshdesk is the other vendor.
Quit Ferdium.exe from the tray
Wrapped sites can keep the Electron host awake.
Alternatives
Rambox if you want that commercial workspace. Wavebox if you want a Chromium workspace browser. Native WhatsApp or Slack if you only need one chat.
