Current status
Still offered. Branding may say Comodo or Xcitium. This article is the Windows consumer suite.
How old is it?
Comodo Internet Security is a 2000s firewall-heavy suite. The company now also says Xcitium. Current home pages still use Comodo URLs. A 2009 CIS screenshot is the same family.
Versions
Major channels first. Exact build numbers are not all verified here.
System requirements
Values follow the publisher's public guidance. Workload still changes the real need.
Minimum
| Operating system | Windows 10 or Windows 11, per current Comodo home pages |
|---|---|
| RAM | A 2 GB class minimum appears on older CIS pages. 4 GB is the comfortable class |

- CPU demand
- HIPS plus scans
- RAM demand
- Several Comodo processes at idle

|---|---|
| cis.exe | Comodo Internet Security UI on many installs |

cmdagent.exe starts with Windows while the suite is installed.
File locations
| Typical install | C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\ |
|---|
Common problems
cmdagent.exe plus live Defender
The suite should own realtime. If Defender still scans, both engines are live.
HIPS popup fatigue
People click Allow on everything. That is a Comodo training problem, not a Windows reinstall.
Getting unstuck
Install from the Comodo home antivirus page
help.comodo.com is support. A "Xcitium enterprise sensor" is the work line, not this home SKU.
Check Windows Security for Comodo or Xcitium
The owner should change after a successful register.
If you only wanted Windows Firewall, uninstall the suite
Leaving HIPS plus Defender plus Windows Firewall is three policies.
Alternatives
Windows Security if you want the in-box firewall and AV. ZoneAlarm if you wanted that older firewall brand. Sandboxie Plus if you wanted an app sandbox without Comodo HIPS.
