What is Bambu Studio?
Bambu Studio slices and talks to Bambu printers (LAN or cloud). It shares ancestry with PrusaSlicer. Cura profiles will not drop in. It is not UltiMaker-Cura.exe.
If you have never used it
If you bought a Bambu Lab printer, this is the slicer and send-to-printer app Bambu documents. Download it from bambulab.com. It is based on PrusaSlicer, but Cura is still a different product. OrcaSlicer is a community fork, not this official Studio.
What is it used for?
P1, X1, A1, and AMS flows. Generic Cura machine profiles skip those extras.
Bambu network and account features. PrusaSlicer does not own this cloud path.
Familiar fork UI. Still a different app from prusa-slicer.exe.
Who is it for?
- Bambu Lab printer owners
- People who tried Cura and lost AMS features
- Users comparing Studio with OrcaSlicer
Current status
Bambu Studio (2022) is a current bambu fdm slicer from Bambu Lab. The vendor still points Windows users at https://bambulab.com/support/software-firmware.
How old is it?
Bambu Studio launched with Bambu printers in 2022 on a PrusaSlicer lineage. Cura was already a decade old. The AMS and cloud send path is Bambu-specific.

Common problems
Sliced in Cura and lost AMS / device features
Use Bambu Studio for the supported send path. Cura is the wrong sibling for that hardware.
Confused Studio with OrcaSlicer
Orca is a community fork. This article is Bambu's official Studio.
Getting unstuck
Install from bambulab.com/support/software-firmware
wiki.bambulab.com has printer pairing. Skip third-party "Bambu full" packs.
Sign in or use LAN mode as Bambu documents
Cloud send is a Bambu account feature. PrusaLink is a different vendor path.
Update firmware from Studio or Bambu's documented path
That is printer firmware, not a Cura Marketplace plugin.
Alternatives
Cura and PrusaSlicer can slice meshes for many printers. Official Bambu send and AMS features live here.
