Phone Link background proxy. It keeps parts of Phone Link alive when the main window is closed. PhoneExperienceHost.exe is the window.

What you need to know

This is the Phone Link helper, not the Phone Link window.

YourPhoneAppProxy.exe stays resident for notifications and reconnect. Ending it is a pause, not an uninstall.

What is YourPhoneAppProxy.exe?

YourPhoneAppProxy.exe is the Phone Link proxy inside the Your Phone package.

What does it do?

It handles background connect and some notification work so the main host can stay closed. It is not CrossDeviceResume.exe.

Why is it running?

Phone Link is installed and allowed to run in the background. No linked phone still leaves the package able to start the proxy.

Is it safe?

Usually safe

The WindowsApps proxy is Microsoft. A YourPhoneAppProxy.exe in Temp is not Phone Link.

A legitimate copy normally runs from:

C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.YourPhone_*\YourPhoneAppProxy.exe

Can I end it?

Pauses background phone features

Ending YourPhoneAppProxy.exe pauses background reconnect and notifications. PhoneExperienceHost.exe is the window you close if you only wanted the UI gone.

Can I remove it?

Uninstall Phone Link

Do not delete the proxy file under WindowsApps. Remove Phone Link from Settings if you do not want the helper back.

Should it start with Windows?

Phone Link background permission starts it.

Diagnose before you change anything destructive.

Phone Link > Settings > start on boot

That checkbox is the persistent story.

Settings > Apps > Phone Link > Advanced > background

Restrict there.
