AppActions.exe
Also called appactions, app actions
Windows App Actions host. It backs suggested actions and related shell action surfaces on current Windows, not the Start menu itself.
What you need to know
This hosts App Actions, not StartMenuExperienceHost.exe.
AppActions.exe lives in the Client CBS package. It is for action suggestions, not the Start grid. Ending it will not recover a missing taskbar.
- Safe?
- Yes, as a Windows package
- Is it Start?
- No. StartMenuExperienceHost is Start
- Should I end it?
- Suggested actions may stop
What is AppActions.exe?
AppActions.exe is the Windows App Actions host in MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS.
What does it do?
It supports clickable suggested actions from text or shell features. It does not draw Start tiles.
Why is it running?
Suggested actions or a related CBS feature is enabled. A PC with those off may still keep a quiet copy in the package.
Is it safe?
Usually safe
The CBS package binary is Microsoft. An AppActions.exe in a store-crack folder is not.
A legitimate copy normally runs from:
C:\Windows\SystemApps\MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_*\AppActions.exe
- CBS client
- Not Start menu
- Settings control suggested actions
Can I end it?
Actions stop until it returns
Ending AppActions.exe drops that surface. Use Settings to disable suggested actions if you do not want it back.
Can I remove it?
No
Do not delete the CBS package to hide suggested actions. Turn the feature off in Settings so AppActions.exe is not the weekly kill target.
Should it start with Windows?
The package starts it. Not Startup Apps.
