AggregatorHost.exe
Also called aggregatorhost, aggregator host
Windows Aggregator Host. Current Windows uses it as a system host for aggregated input or capability work. It is not SearchIndexer.exe.
What you need to know
This is a Windows aggregator host, not the search indexer and not svchost.exe.
AggregatorHost.exe is a System32 host Microsoft added for aggregated system work. Treat a System32 copy as Windows. Do not apply svchost grouping tips to it.
- Safe?
- Yes, in System32
- Is it Search?
- No. SearchIndexer writes the catalog
- Should I end it?
- A hosted feature may fail
What is AggregatorHost.exe?
AggregatorHost.exe is Windows Aggregator Host. It is a dedicated host image, not a service DLL inside svchost.exe.
What does it do?
It aggregates work Microsoft did not put in explorer.exe or SearchIndexer.exe. High CPU should be read with Process Explorer stacks, not with a filename risk score.
Why is it running?
The session or a feature started the host. A copy from anywhere but System32 is the path check.
Is it safe?
Usually safe
System32 AggregatorHost.exe signed by Microsoft is the host. The same filename in Downloads is not Windows and should not be run.
A legitimate copy normally runs from:
C:\Windows\System32\AggregatorHost.exe
- Not SearchIndexer.exe
- Not svchost.exe
- Path first
Can I end it?
Only if stuck and the desktop is fine
Ending AggregatorHost.exe restarts that hosted work. It is not SearchIndexer.exe and it is not a weekly svchost cleanup.
Can I remove it?
No
Do not delete AggregatorHost.exe. It is a System32 host. Repair with SFC after you confirm corruption, not with a download.
Should it start with Windows?
Windows starts it as needed. Not a vendor tray.
